There are 5 stages in a father-son relationship… we can call it IDEAL.
1)IDOL… The father is the centre of the child’s universe… and the child’s hero.
2)DISCORD: This starts in the preteen age to about 24yrs when the new adult becomes rebellious, and wants to be nothing like the father.. some even hate the father.
3 )Evolving…. the young adults matures and mellow and may even think the father as a competitor.
4)Acceptance: 30s and 40s when we let go of old hurts and come to know father’s positive traits. they become more .
5 )Legacy: In 40 plus, will recognise that we are a living product of our father’s influence. so the IDEAL stage … will repeat itself
